Dialects of crazy…
May 14, 2012 by Michelle.
My bestie asked me a few days ago why I haven’t posted on my blog. Well here is the truth, I’ve concentrated so hard on getting through nail tech school, that I really put my blog on the back burner.
But sometimes genius just comes out of no where and you have to tell the world about it.
The enlightening fact I discovered today has to do with the crazy we speak. Each of us talks crazy. It all depends on the different dialects you understand. Popular comedians speak the more common dialect, that many people understand. Then there are those, I’m sure you have met one or two of them, that they think they are completely funny and you just look at them like they are in deed crazy. It just means you don’t speak the same dialect. It isn’t really about levels of crazy, it is more about finding people that speak the same kind of crazy.
So we go through life talking to people and finding others who speak our dialect of crazy. People with lots of friends are those who speak and understand lots of dialects of crazy. And the goal of unmarried people should really be to find someone who speaks and understands their kind of crazy fluently.
My readers who know me personally probably guess that I am pretty fluent in dialects of crazy. I have been lucky enough to find a spouse that also speaks my exact kind of crazy, he makes me laugh every single day. I try to do the exact same for him. So in reality what we need to do is invent some words for the kinds of crazy out there.
Sarcrazy: the crazy that speaks sarcasm fluently. Many people speak this language.
Drazy: the crazy that enjoys British humor and dry humor. Monty Python fans understand this well.
Crudazy: the crazy that uses foul language to prove their point. If you ever saw Richard Pryor do stand up you know crude.
Subtleazy: The kinda crazy that sneaks up on you. Usually the kind of crazy that is an inside joke between friends.
Ironicrazy: Things that strike as funny because of the irony. The fact that Jack Daniels is made in a county where you can’t buy alcohol is ironic.
Physicrazy: Physical humor, it used to be called slap-stick. The Three Stooges is a prime example.
There are so many types of humor/crazy that we really should be looking for someone who speaks our dialect of crazy, not our love language, or has the same common interest. Who cares if you both like to ski if he/she is constantly laughing at things that just aren’t funny, or worse not laughing when it is hilarious.

I’ve been away for far too long…
January 12, 2012 by Michelle.
Yes I know I have been away for too long. I have had life happening and none of it has been the least bit entertaining that I could share. Just the same old hum drum kind of stuff each day. I’ve picked up a new hobby along the holidays. I’m getting ready for a big change in life, so I thought I would at least update and hope to have some inspiring post in the near future.
First, my new hobby… well it’s really kind of an old hobby that I renewed interest in and have become tangled in. I have started to crochet again. No I am not a little old lady. It tends to relax me as I have something to focus on other than stress. I made a blanket for my bestie for Christmas
![]()
And since then, I have been making all kinds of things… scarves, pot holders, dish cloths, and have started on 2 more blankets and have an idea for a third. Let me know if your interested in owning any…
Secondly though I have been going in circles in my brain, and that has taken up a lot of time. There are some corners in there that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. So I am making a major change at this point in life. Many people that know me, know that I have been a secretary for a long time, 7 of the last 8 years for the same pizza company. I am leaving my full time position with the company and going to follow a little more of a dream.
I begin classes in Feb. to get my license as a nail tech. If you are a regular on my facebook page you know that I enjoy doing nails and I like to think I am pretty good at it too. It has just become time to add the next step to life and see how things turn out. So ladies keep in mind you will be able to come and get your nails done by me soon!
And a little ego trip…

Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Winchester, VA
November 8, 2011 by Michelle.
Before I begin this entry I would just like to say, the opinions expressed are mine and mine alone. I do not discourage anyone from trying or encourage anyone to go to any restaurant I talk about.
**************************************************************************
Carrabba’s is a brand new restaurant in Winchester. It is located in Kernstown Commons near the Alamo Draft house. Exit 310 off of Route 81.
We arrived a little later in the dinner service, about 9 pm one evening. The restaurant was not very busy, a handful of tables were occupied and a few tables at the bar were in service. We were seated promptly and our waitress M arrived pretty quickly to take our drink orders. It has been a few years since we have eaten at a Carrabba’s so we perused the menu for a little while. M informed us that they were out of the Swordfish special and the Ribeye that was on special, then let us know that because the fire marshal had just cleared their oven that day they were also unable to make pizzas yet.
We ordered an Antipasti Plate for an appetizer. After pouring over the menu I decided on Linguine Pescatore for an entree and my husband chose Insalata Carrabba Ceasar.
Meal descriptions (from the menu)–
Antipasti Plate: Calamari, Bruchette, and Mozzarella Marinara.
Insalata Carraba Ceasar: Wood-grilled chicken or shrimp in our own ceasar dressing. (Husband had chicken)
Linguine Pescatore: Shrimp, sea scallops and mussels tossed with linguine in a spicy marinara sauce.
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly…
The fresh baked bread was delivered warm and soft and was very good.
The appetizer seemed to have odd portioning on the plate one-third of the plate was calamari. The bruchette was served with a small dish of chunky tomatoes and spices with a dollop of fresh mozzarella cheese and two slices of bread. The mozzarella marinara was then served with a larger dish of marinara sauce and three mozzarella sticks. The calamari itself seemed under-seasoned, and very “breaded”. The tomato and mozzarella for the bruchette had a good flavor, but would have been better if there were more bread slices. it seemed odd to have to put half a ramikin of something on one slice of bread. The mozzarella sticks were breaded heavily and a little “well-done” for our taste. And because it was just two of us sharing the plate we cut the odd stick in half.
My husband’s dinner was a basic chicken ceasar salad. The ceasar dressing here is very well done, it is not overpowering and strong like many ceasar dressings seem to be, the chicken was slightly blackened with the wood-grilling but had good flavor. The down side of this dish is the large portion of cheese shredded on top, a little lighter hand on the parmesian cheese would go far.
My entree was served with a side ceasar salad and had the same heavy handed parmesian cheese. The pasta of my entree was done al dente just as I like it, and the spicy marinara was done very well. I did enjoy the pasta and sauce very much. The shrimp was a good size and tasty, the mussels were cooked well but on the smaller side. I am not a big fan of sea scallops in general, but I tasted one before passing the rest on to my husband. The scallops were cooked well, but the taste was not one I would order again. The scallops tasted like they may have been a day or two older than I would like. They were not bad or spoiled in any way, just not as fresh as I like my seafood to be.
Overall–
This is a recently opened national chain that of course still has a few kinks to work out. The server was friendly and did everything to make our meal pleasant.

Food, Food, glorious food!
November 6, 2011 by Michelle.
I’m taking a page from my friend Ida. I am thinking of expanding my blogging horizons. I want to add a foodie entry to my blog each week. I am not nearly as organized as Ida, so I am aiming to get a post in once a week, I won’t even guess at which day of the week it will be, or what the entry will look like at this point. The post may include a review of a restaurant that I have been to recently, a new food that I have tried, a food memory, a new recipe, really anything could happen when I discuss food, so hope you enjoy the ride!
I will not be talking about fancy, I can’t afford this meal kind of food. I am planning on reviewing and looking at things that everyday normal people go out to have. National chains, hometown haunts, the things that I do everyday. I can’t and don’t spend $100 on dinner for 2 on a regular basis. Most of the people I know don’t do this either…

Thanks for the kick in the teeth!
October 24, 2011 by Michelle.
I feel so bad I didn’t get you anything…
WARNING: THIS BECOMES A DEPRESSING PITY ME RANT TOWARD THE END!
Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Wow, not that I can go into specifics, but once again life has a way of kicking me right in the teeth and then expecting me to say thank you. Work hard do what is asked of you, someone else gets compensated. Believe that people will follow through and do what they say, rug gets pulled out from under you.
How hard is it to say what you mean and mean what you say?
Sucker punch #1: If you don’t have the power to make something happen don’t set someone up to believe that you do. Don’t tell me that “this is the plan” and then tell me you have no authority to make that plan happen. Better yet have the balls to lay it down in front of the person that does have the authority. If your too afraid to put it out where it needs to be don’t dangle the damn carrot in front of someone’s face.
Sucker punch #2: A person leading you to believe that you will be compensated in a certain way if you do A, B, and C correctly (you do A, B, and C) then just before the time comes to get paid, they change the compensation. FYI it makes you suck as a person when you do this to someone. You got everything as outlined in the original plan, how is it that I have to settle for 10% of the original money and I have no recourse! That sucks!
All of these things leading to the fact that just when we thought we would be able to quit treading water and at least get to the point where we could see the edge of the water and we are right back in just as deep as ever. We wouldn’t have been safe from drowning, but damn does someone always have to tie rocks to my feet. The shit is too heavy as it is.
Just this morning I started thinking about in a month or two we would be caught up, not saving money yet, no not out of debt, but at least able to pay the bills within the month that they show up or in our case before the cut off notice actually arrives. I was thanking God for the good things that I could see coming my way in the next few weeks. I was thanking Him for helping me through this hard season I have been in. I guess he decided I was being a bit premature in my gratitude. I certainly wasn’t ready for the ice cold bucket of water I got today.
HERE IS WHERE THE PITY ME RANTING BEGINS: You were warned!
Do you have any idea at all how shitty it feels when you buy nothing (let me say that again) NOTHING for anyone for Christmas. I bought my children nothing last year. I bought my husband nothing. I bought my friends nothing. I was so depressed about Christmas last year I didn’t even want to get out of bed. Yes I know that the season is not about the gifts. Yes my children are grown and they can understand. The point is after all was said and done last Christmas all I wanted was to be able to do more for my family this year, and now it doesn’t look at all like I am going to be able to do any better this year than I did last year.

Your kidding me right?
October 14, 2011 by Michelle.
Ok first let me say I came upon this info completely by accident and that is all I will say about how I know this.
I have witnessed the epitome of insane, truly, completely, asinine, and ridiculous. Obviously I am talking about the government…
The government has a food stamp program…. it is designed to keep people from going hungry, a noble idea. Yes I know there are people that abuse the system in all kinds of way, these are not the type of people I am talking about in general.
The crazy I have witnessed is purely due to government regulations and what is allowable. If you are a family purchasing food via food stamps you would not be allowed to purchase a rotisserie chicken because it is already cooked and therefore considered a prepared food. We are not talking about McDonald’s or a steak house dinner here, I’m talking about the chicken roasted at the grocery store. But do you know what you can buy with food stamps?????
Margarita mix!!!
That’s right you can buy the mix to pour your tequila into, but you can’t buy a cooked chicken. I guess if your drunk you don’t have to care that much if your kids eat. I mean really is this considered a fruit? An already roasted chicken is too much of a convenience food for these poor families, but feel free to buy all the soda, chips, candy, cookies and drink mixes you would like. Why on earth does the government even bother yapping about nutrition programs and children being obese?

What’s your sign? And other pick up lines…
September 21, 2011 by Michelle.
I have been thinking (yes we all know this can lead to trouble) about bad pick-up lines. So I thought I’d list some of the worst offenders and an answer that should confuse the poor soul using such bad lines…
Hey, what’s your sign? — Stop
Do you come here often? —No and believe it or not, I’m not here now.
Are your legs tired, because you’ve been running through my mind all day? — Not tired enough to stay here [walks away]
Would you like to see the back seat of my car? —No, don’t you mean your mom’s car.
Where have you been all my life? — I don’t know, but I wish I was still there.
Those are nice pants, they would look real good on my floor in the morning. —Your cardboard box has a floor?
Are you from Tennessee? ‘Cause your the only 10 I see… —I am a 10, but I don’t date zeros so get lost.
Do you clean your pants with windex? ‘Cause I can see myself in them… —I had no idea you were into cross dressing. I have some old dresses you can borrow instead.
Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven? You must be an angel. —Yes God sent me to smite anyone using bad pick-up lines.
Then of course don’t you just know that as soon as I start thinking about pick-up lines one of my friends post this on her Facebook page and just flat out makes me laugh. So I had to share…
Top 10 Pirate Pickup Lines:
10 . Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?
9. Have ya ever met a man with a real yardarm?
8. Come on up and see me urchins.
7. Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.
6. I’d love to drop anchor in your lagoon.
5. Pardon me, but would ya mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole?
4. How’d you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?
3. Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.
2. Well blow me down?
1. Prepare to be boarded.
Thanks to all my friends out there that were kind enough to dig through their bad pick up lines and help me with this blog post. Those of us that have been married for a while had trouble coming up with them…

What does that taste like?
September 9, 2011 by Michelle.
My disclaimer: I am a carnivore, I like to eat meat. If you are a vegetarian and are offended by meat eating you may want to go read some of my other posts, or wait until the next post, this one is going to be about meat eating. You have been warned…
So my husband and I are out to dinner the other night and we are having steak. We got into a discussion about meat. It started out with things that taste like chicken. I have had raccoon and it does taste like chicken, frog legs taste like chicken, I’ve heard that snake also taste like chicken. So I got to wondering… what about the people that have never eaten chicken? What do they think everything taste like? I mean if your some tribe deep in the Amazon or something you probably don’t get to see a whole lot of KFC’s in your day to day. If someone gave them a piece of chicken what would they compare it to? Do you think they would say…”mmmmm taste like snake” or maybe it taste like parrot. I don’t know, I’ve never eaten a parrot, but I was just going along the bird line of thinking. So I guess what it taste like all depends on your frame of reference…
Then of course the conversation took a turn…
What do you think Armadillo taste like? I think it would taste like turtle because of the shell. Maybe a little chewy. Hubby claims it looks like a miniature horse so maybe it taste like horse too. Again I have no idea what a horse would taste like, and I have no intention of finding out, but I like the taste of turtle, so armadillo might be good too. Then he said what about prairie dogs? I don’t know if I could eat one, they look awful cute. But his contention is that they would probably taste a bit like squirrel so therefore they would be tasty if you had enough of them. If they taste like squirrel I’m willing to try them. What if armadillo and prairie dogs both taste like chicken? I might be a little disappointed with that, it doesn’t seem like everything should taste like chicken. We need more things that taste like steak!
